2016 Captain Of Team Asia to play at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

In an exciting development Jeev Milkha Singh has been confirmed as one of the headline players for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2016. Singh is India’s most successful golfer, and captained the Asian team that took on Europe in the 2016 EurAsia Cup, which took place in Malaysia from the 14 – 17th January 2016.

Speaking on his participation Jeev Milkha Singh said, “I’m looking forward to playing in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open for the first time in May. I have heard so much about the destination following the staging of the inaugural event last season and I hope to have a great week there, both on and off the golf course.”

He continued, “As professional golfers, we are privileged to have the opportunity to travel and compete at exciting and exotic destinations, and I would like to thank the sponsors for supporting professional golf at the highest level. It will be another great week having the best players from the Asian Tour, European Tour and Sunshine Tour competing in Mauritius.”

Singh is one of Asia’s most decorated and global players, having won six times on the Asian Tour and multiple times in Japan and Europe. A two-time Asian Tour number one, he was conferred an honorary Asian Tour membership in 2009. He has also won four titles across the globe, and lifted a second Asian Tour Order of Merit crown in 2008. Singh hit top form by winning the Bank Austria Golf Open and Sega Sammy Cup in Japan, but his biggest triumph of the season came at the Barclays Singapore Open. Victory helped him become the first man in Asian golf history to win over US$1 million during a season, eventually earning US$1.45 million which stands as a Tour record.

Having won two Asian Tour Order of Merit crowns and numerous other victories in Asia, Japan and Europe, Jeev is certainly one of Asia’s living golf legends, and his presence in Mauritius will certainly add great value to the prestigious tournament.”

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is the first ever tri-sanctioned golf tournament endorsed by the Sunshine, European and Asian Tours. The tournament will be held from 12-15 May 2016 at the Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita.
