Launch of AfrAsia Golf Academy

Monday 27th July 2015 - While the Academy showcases the Bank’s engagement for supporting underprivileged children through the development of sports, this initiative, being a major component of our CSR philosophy, also reinforces our commitment to the socio-economic development of Mauritius.

The programme is targeted at benefitting 45 children aged 9 – 15 from Ti Rayon Soleil, with the aim of creating junior golfers aligning the perfect mix of academic grounding of the sport and a strong foundation of how to play the game.

The project will comprise of three phases:

Phase 1 (July 2015 – November 2015): 45 children will be selected to run qualifying exercises under the supervision of a Senior PGA Coach
Phase 2 (November 2015 – June 2016): Those selected at the end of phase 1 will then start as from this November coaching with MGF
Phase 3 (June 2016 onwards): The children selected at end of phase 2 will form the backbone of AfrAsia Golf Academy as from June 2016

“We want the island’s current and junior golfers to enjoy the benefits of learning the game and AfrAsia Bank is more than delighted to launch the AfrAsia Golf Academy. Our CSR approach encompasses children education and development, and this initiative is aimed at not only identifying talented young golfers and providing them a professional coaching framework, support and capabilities to transform them into tomorrow’s golf pros, but also promote golf as a rising sport and its values in Mauritius,” said James Benoit, CEO of AfrAsia Bank.
