AfrAsia Bank supports the Mauritius Squash Rackets Association for the 2015 Indian Ocean Island Games

Thursday 24th July 2015 - For the first time in the Indian Ocean Island Games, squash has been chosen as a demonstration sport, and will bring together participants from Mauritius, Reunion, Seychelles, Madagascar and South Africa. This particular discipline will be honoured with the presence of world squash champions Thierry Lincou and James Willstrop, both ranked World No. 1 in 2004 and 2012 respectively.

As the main equipment sponsor of the Mauritius Squash Rackets Association for this tournament, AfrAsia Bank is proud to support its employee and squash superstar Nicolas Mourga, currently ranked 3rd at national level.

AfrAsia Bank CEO James Benoit expresses his enthusiasm to be associated with one of the leading racket sports which is played in more than 185 countries and also bidding a place in the world’s greatest sporting event, the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. “We are honoured to have among us Nicolas Mourga, a national champion whom we strongly support and encourage towards fulfilling his athletic aspirations. Advocating excellence, discipline and integrity, squash as a discipline is in line with AfrAsia Bank’s culture and we believe that it is time for squash to have its chance to shine on the greatest sporting stages,” he added.

Mr. Adrien Wehrli, Secretary General of the Mauritius Squash Rackets Association, reveals his satisfaction with the preparation of the Mauritius squash team. "We want to showcase squash as an iconic sport at the games and we look forward to giving our level best, and ultimately achieve the best possible position although the competition will be very tough. I would also like to extend a thank you note to the sponsors, AfrAsia Bank and City Sport/Go Sport for their support in this endeavour”, he commented.
