AfrAsia Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Olivier Jauffret as Chairperson of the Board, effective on 1st April 2024. Olivier has dedicated his entire professional career to practising law as a partner at two world-leading international (UK and US) law firms, Linklaters and Weil Gotshal Manges, where he held a partner position at each firm for more than 20 years. Based in Paris, he was the Head of the Banking practice at both law firms with a focus on clients and transactions with an international footprint, and was widely recognized as one of the few leading banking lawyers of his generation.
In his new role at AfrAsia Bank, Olivier Jauffret states: “I am delighted to take up the role of Chairperson at AfrAsia Bank. The Bank is uniquely positioned in the Mauritian market to provide something different to customers and the economy, and I look forward to working with the Board, the Senior Management and the wider AfrAsia Bank Team to uphold our commitment to excellence in private banking, investment and wealth management while reinforcing the positioning of the brand both locally and internationally.”
Throughout his successful career, Olivier Jauffret has honed his expertise in banking law, advising various stakeholders including creditors and debtors (banks, funds and corporates). Leveraging his international experience and invaluable banking know-how, he will bring his expertise to three Board Committees, namely the Strategy, Corporate Governance and Conduct Review Committees.
Olivier Jauffret graduated in 1991 from the Law University of Aix-en-Provence and subsequently from London University. He holds a DESS and Magistère in business law, tax law and accounting, and a postgraduate law degree (LL.M) from University College London. He was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1994.
Thierry Vallet, Chief Executive Officer of AfrAsia Bank, points out: “I am very happy to welcome our new Chairman. Olivier brings deep expertise in banking from his long-standing leadership tenure with world-leading law firms specialized in banking. We look forward to collaborating with him to help us in pathing our growth journey together.”
