As part of the Bank’s responsibility to alert our customers on current frauds and scams, it has been recently noticed that fraudsters are calling individuals on Viber claiming they have won 1 million Euros or Dollars. 

The fraudsters state that they are from AfrAsia Bank and inform customers of winning a fake lottery. Current technology allows the scammer to “spoof” or alter the Caller ID to make it look as if the call is coming from our phone number +230 208 5500. The display picture that comes up is the AfrAsia Bank logo.

 

Please note that such call is FAKE and that AfrAsia Bank will NOT call or send any text message to its customers via Viber, WhatsApp or such similar platforms from a landline. We strongly recommend that customers exercise extreme caution in respect of such scams that intend to obtain money and personal information. AfrAsia Bank will never ask you for any personal information including your bank account details, login details, cards, OTP and PIN number.

 

If you receive any such calls, please notify the Bank immediately by sending an email to customerexperience@afrasiabank.com. Kindly provide a screenshot of the call log as well.
