Annually, of the 2000 new cases of cancer recorded in Mauritius, about 500 are Mauritian women diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 100 to 150 of them potentially have to undergo a mastectomy.
With the aim to support cancer survivors get through their long recovery period post-surgery, AfrAsia Foundation has launched the “Life after a Mastectomy” initiative in collaboration with the NGO Link to Life. Through this initiative, we will offer tailor-made breast prothesis as well as psychological support to more than 50 cancer survivors of Link to life to help them heal from what has been an arduous journey for them and their families alike.
